BURNLEY BREWING TEAMS UP WITH THESE DAYS COFFEE ROASTING FOR THE COFFEE BROWN ALE.

Burnley Brewing

Put your hand up if you love coffee? Who are we kidding? This is Melbourne, of course you love coffee. Which is why we’ve buddied up with Richmond’s newest boutique coffee roasters, These Days Coffee Roasting, for an awesome beer/coffee match made in heaven; our Coffee Brown Ale. Head brewer Micahel Stanzel has already blown our minds with his genius addition of lactose, which is the sugar found in milk. What does this mean for your mouth? Well, lactose is too complex for the yeast to digest, so it will remain in the beer unfermented, resulting in a slightly sweet, full-bodied and smooth feel in your mouth.

As for the coffee part, These Days has delivered the goods in the form of a hand picked, grade 1, single origin coffee from Konga in Yirgechefe, Ethiopia. This unique roast displays notes of dried apricot, honey and melon, which Michael has made to shine alongside the toffee and caramel malt aromas and floral and citrus American hop aromas. The Coffee Brown is a well-balanced beer experience.

If you haven’t heard of These Days Coffee Roasting, it’s because they haven’t even officially launched yet! Roasting from Holla Food and Drink on Victoria Street, owners Matt Ward and Phil Gijsbers have opened seventeen hospitality businesses between them, with two more in the works. Phew! Check out their other venues: Hard Pressed Coffee, Holla Food and Drink, Pedro Espresso, Saint James Café and Eastside (coming soon!).

The Coffee Brown Ale with These Days Coffee Roasting is going to be on tap from opening day, so get in quick because it won’t last long!

Sincerely, Burnley
